PORT Moresby city residents and other urban dwellers have been urged to cooperate with census teams and provide the information required in the national census.
National Census coordinator Hajily Kele has called on city dwellers to try their best to be available for the national body count, which starts next Monday and ends the following Sunday.
“If the household head is not available and if there is a person in the house who is unable to answer the questions when the census team turns up, our team will have in place a call-back system.
“That means our team will get their contact details and call them or visit them after work or in the evening, depending on what time that day the residents think is right to get the actual census details,” Kele said.
NCD census coordinator, Jacqueline Tarawu said 1,600 interviewers and supervisors would conduct the census for NCD residents.
“They will cover all nine zones in the city and go from house to house to get census information,” she said.
“There will be four to five people in a team with zone coordinators to do quality check.
“Each person in a team will be assigned to 40 or 60 house in a day for the enumeration,” Tarawu said.
She said the census team would go through a familiarisation of census areas tomorrow and Sunday before the census commences.
