PUMA Energy has invested K3.2 million to upgrade the Badili Service Station in Port Moresby, says Puma Energy country manager Jim Collings.
It was opened yesterday witnessed by Moresby South MP and Minister for Housing and Urban Development Justin Tkatchenko, operator for Canaan Investment Paul Morris, staff and the general public.
“The refurbishment which has been safely done to budget, took three months, which included the upgrading of tanks, new fuel lines and fuel pumps as well as a complete revamp of the convenience store,” Collings said.
“The focus on the works has been to continue to evolve our full service customer offer focused on providing high quality products in a safe and welcoming environment for our customers.”
“Puma Energy’s investment is part of an ongoing commitment of continually reinvesting into the local infrastructure and raising the standards of the industry in the country as well as providing high quality products in a safe and welcoming environment for our customers,” Collings said.
Morris was happy with the refurbished service station.
“I have had the pleasure of operating this service station for over 12 years now,” he said.
“My company Canaan Investment Ltd has been in the retail service station business now for over 15 years.
“In June 2004, Shell offered me a very small service station at Faniufa in Goroka. After three years, given that we exceeded all expectations in Goroka, the Badili Service Station in Port Moresby was offered to us in July 2007.
“My special acknowledgement to the Puma management for the upgrade of this facility, a testimony of Puma’s long-term commitment to PNG in truly energising our country.
“We will work with Puma to better offer quality service to our customers.”
Tkatchenko thanked Collings and Morris for investing in Moresby South.
He said the Koki area was growing fast with business activities and the name would be changed from Koki to Koki Central South Side to give the area a sense of more pride and business investment attractiveness.
