Puma improving infrastructure to boost services: Tokome

Business

OVER the past year, Puma has invested more than K10 million into its Rabaul Terminal, country general manager Hulala Tokome says.
Tokome said the terminal serviced the retail, commercial and aviation sectors.
“It indicates our commitment to the people of East New Britain and the broader region,” he said.
He said Puma’s recent achievements included:
lOne million litre unleaded tank. This is more than 11 metres high with a 13-metre diameter and has a floating roof to reduce emissions and product loss. The project involves almost 32,000 man hours and was completed on budget and ahead of plan. The tank is the latest fire-fighting technology to protect Puma’s assets and the neighbouring communities.
la new fire fighting system. Rabaul terminal staff have received training to operate the new system and conduct regular emergency response drills.
la new packed product storage warehouse – to ensure Puma’s extensive range of lubricants is sheltered to maintain high product quality standards.
“The Rabaul facility is a critical part of Puma’s national terminal footprint and a lot of product is loaded through the Rabaul jetty to supply East New Britain, AROB (Autonomous Region of Bougainville) and parts of New Ireland,” Tokome said.
“Puma is proud of continuing to invest in its facilities in Rabaul and has shown a commitment to energising communities through these important investments.
There is also more to come with planned upgrade works for the Rabaul jetty and a new aviation facility.”
