THERE was a fatal PMV truck accident recently at Koikin-Kreer Heights, East Sepik where more than 10 passengers were killed. It is very sad and shocking to hear of an accident of this magnitude. Who are we to blame? The vehicle in question should be examined for any faults that may have contributed to the accident. I call on the authorities to ban all second-hand PMVs from operating, give a certain period for new ones to operate and make sure their maintenance schedules are strictly followed. Put laws in place to charge PMV owners with murder if they cause accidents through neglect. Impose tougher penalties. East Sepik authorities must investigate and prosecute all those responsible.
