A LANDOWNER in Jiwaka is calling on the government to make Kudjip the capital of Jiwaka.

Kupal Kaken said Kudjip was geographically, administratively, politically, socially and economically situated for the purpose.

“Kudjip is a central location and it is located along the Okuk (Highlands) Highway,” Kaken said.

“It is more convenient for the people of Jimi, Waghi and Kambia.

“There are established government services like the Highlands mobile unit (police), the Kudjip Nazarene Hospital and a few more.”

Kaken said 500 hectares of state land to use for the purposes of development was available.

“The government will spend less as it does not have to purchase new land for infrastructure and make available services that are already in Kudjip,” he said.

Kaken called on all local MPs to support the proposal as it was in the interest of the Jiwaka people.
