Put people first

THE Government has budgeted some millions of kina on school fee loans for next year and beyond.
This was not expected by the eight million people of Papua New Guinea.
It is a wrong decision by the Government.
Some parents do not want this. Remember, all of us are not on pay roll.
We don’t get free money.
We work to get paid. No work, no money.
The Government mentioned that students who were selected to tertiary institutions were eligible to apply for the Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP).
Now, that would raise a few questions.
The loan would take time to be approved.
Are students going to register within the period of processing the loan?
Or are they going to wait for the approval of the loan? Will the institutions allow the students to register?
No, I think students would miss classes while waiting for loan to be approved.
The Government has budgeted another K200 million for Small to Medium Enterprise (SME).
Another question here; are the parents going to concentrate on SME or kids school fees?
People cannot double responsibilities at once.
They are not robots.
Think carefully Mr PM, your policy slogan ‘Take back PNG’ will not happen that way.
Do the right thing by putting the people first.
Do not hurt the people.
