AN Air Niugini return flight between Port Moresby and Brisbane, Australia, yesterday morning was delayed due to mechanical problems.
The airline said in a statement the flight PX003 and PX004, operated by a Boeing 767, had two taxi returns due to various mechanical defects.
“All passengers were transferred onto a Fokker 100 which departed after 11am,” it said.
“The afternoon PX025 flight to Brisbane was also delayed as a result of the earlier disruption. This flight
departed at 2.46pm instead of 1.30pm.”
Air Niugini said while it did its best to manage and minimise disruptions to the domestic sector as a result of the delays, it could not avoid disruptions to PX180 to Mt Hagen and PX106 to Lae which departed at a revised time.
“The airline also cancelled a special flight to Manus which will depart tomorrow (today).
“Air Niugini apologises for the inconvenience caused.
“Our valued customers are reminded that safety is always of paramount importance in Air Niugini’s operations.”
