PX cancels flights to Fiji
The National,Tuesday 03rd April 2012
AIR Niugini has temporarily suspended all flights to Nadi Airport, Fiji.
The suspension of services is because of concerns over the weather and the difficulty of getting out of the airport to local resorts and hotels.
Fiji has declared a state of emergency as the western side of the main island, Viti Levu, is inundated with floods that have killed two people.
In addition, the country is bracing itself for a tropical cyclone heading its way.
The national carrier’s suspension came into effect on Sunday and will remain until further notice.
Customers have been advised to revalidate their travel and that changes will be done without penalties, a statement from the airline said.
All flights to Honiara, Solomon Islands, are operating on schedule.
Sunday’s flight PX 084 stayed overnight in Honiara and returned to Port Moresby yesterday.
