PX not paying levies to NAC

Letters

WHILE we acknowledge the national flag career’s transparency in informing the public on the break-up of its ticket fares and highlighting the airport charges added to the ticket fares, I hear that the levies are continuously being short-paid to the National Airports Corporation (NAC).
While we understand that the Covid-19 has brought the aviation industry to its knees, we are seeing domestic air travel picking up again even though international travel has been eased.
What is collected as airport levies as advertised by Air Niugini in the dailies, which is said to be K68.40, has not been paid in full to the NAC.
These airport charges are needed by the NAC to continue maintaining its airport services.
We hear that Air Niugini owes NAC millions in unpaid levies.
Can Air Niugini inform the public why it’s been collecting the levies and not fully paying these to NAC?
Over to you PX.
