AIR Niugini has resumed operations at Buka Airport in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, from last Wednesday following its suspension earlier this month.
The airline company said in a statement that PX 252 departed Port Moresby at 9.30am yesterday to Buka via Rabaul.
The airline stated that the flight arrived in Buka at 1.05pm and departed at 1.35pm before returning to Port Moresby at 2.05pm.
Air Niugini suspend flights to Buka on Aug 12 after the National Airports Corporation (NAC) closed the airport due to security and safety issues on the ground, which have since been resolved.
Air Niugini operates six flights per week to and from Buka Airport (daily except for Sundays), and twice weekly services to and from Aropa Airport in Kieta.
Some flights operate directly between Port Moresby and Buka while others route through Rabaul.
