AIR Niugini has downgraded its flights to Boram, Wewak due to its deteriorating runway.

All Fokker 100 and Q400 operations have been suspended while only lighter aircraft continue to operate to Boram airport.

Airport authorities have already commenced work on fixing the runway and until these works are complete, all Fokker 100 and Q400 operations remain suspended.

Air Niugini regretted the inconvenience caused, saying the situation is beyond the airline’s control.

Safety is of paramount importance, Air Niugini said.
