BOROKO Pythons have erased the bitter memories of last year to beat equally determined Hohola Freeway Bumpers 8-7 in a breathtaking rugby league grand final at the Hohola Ipi Park on Sunday to snatch the NCD Governor’s Cup.
After ending the season as plate winners last year, the Pythons went one better this year to win the cup and K3,000 prizemoney.
The Bumpers were runners-up and settled for K2,000.
In the plate final, Heduru Brothers of Morata defeated University Pythons 16-6 to pick up K1,000 and the Pythons went home with K700, while in the bowl final, United Brothers beat neighbours 9-Mile Giants 14-12 to see the brethrens collecting K600 and the Giants walking away with  K400.
Bumpers posted first points with a penalty to five-eighth William Monae but the Pythons retaliated with a try to Jacob Kale  to take a 4-2  lead.
The scores remained unchanged till the break.
Hohola continued to threaten to pave way as flashy winger Presley Soto’s grubber found Junior Yambi to extend their lead to 6-4.
Bumpers seemed to be control and seven minutes later, their five-eighth Monae potted a field goal to stretch their lead to 7-4.
Sensing the game slipping away, the Pythons’ James Alua slipped through the Bumpers’ defence to score a four-pointer to seal an 8-7 victory for the Pythons.
