Queen invites GG to jubilee celebration

GOVERNOR-General Sir Bob Dadae is travelling to the United Kingdom this week to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations next month.
The announcement was made yesterday from the Government House.
It is understood Sir Bob has been invited to participate in celebrations marking the Queen’s 70th year since her ascension to the British throne in 1952 and as head of the Commonwealth of Nations.
Sir Bob is expected to meet with other Governor Generals including Australia’s Governor General David Hurley.
Sir Bob will be accompanied by wife Lady Emeline Dadae, officials from the Governor General’s office and acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Elias Wohengu and department officials.
The official Platinum Jubilee celebrations will begin on June 2-5.
The Governor General and his delegation will return on June 10.
Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika will stand in as acting Governor General until the Vice-Regal returns.
