A GRADE 6 class and their teacher have come forward to help a school mate who lost all his belongings in a house fire early this month.
The girls from Eki Vaki Primary School at Hohola, Port Moresby, together with their teacher Leanne Terina, yesterday donated a bag of clothes and stationery items to schoolmate Joshua Tamate whose home at Tokarara was completely razed early this month.
Terina, who is also a contestant in this year’s Miss Papua New Guinea Red Cross and Joshua’s teacher, said upon hearing about the incident, she started collecting stationery and clothing to donate to him and his family.
She said she and the students with the help of her family decided to  collect donations to help Joshua after his family decided to move back to the village.
Deputy headteacher Norah Aihi thanked Terina and the students for helping Joshua and said what they gave was little but would mean a lot to Joshua and the family.
He said they understood what the family was going through and prayed that they would get through it.
Aihi wished Joshua all the best in his studies and urged him to continue to be the good type of person he was when at the school.
His school mate Lillian Jeoff thanked Joshua for being a good friend and wished him every success in his studies on behalf of all his school mates at Eki Vaki.
