IT is believed a quick alert radio notice received and adhered to by the crews of mv Kimbe Queen, the sister vessel of ill-fated mv Rabaul Queen prevented another likely scenario just off the Milne Bay and Central coastal border.
Kimbe Queen is now docked at Kupiano harbor in Marshall Lagoon of Abau district in Central, with passengers reportedly continuing their journey on the Magi highway (by PMVs) into Port Moresby.
However, reports reaching The National’s Lae bureau said the vessel was facing similar ocean conditions with strong winds which also posed a risk for the crew and passengers after it left Alotau last Thursday but was forced to go into dock since Friday.
The vessel is docked and not capsized as reported earlier.
Star Ships as the operator could not be reached for comments.
