VANIMO-Green River MP Belden Namah says Treasurer Patrick Pruaitch should give up the position because there is a leadership tribunal decision pending against him.

Namah asked Deputy Speaker Aide Ganasi to explain the leadership status of Pruaitch.

Namah showed copies of a Supreme Court decision last December, in regards to an appeal by Pruaitch to the court to prevent a leadership tribunal from hearing allegations of misconduct in office against him. The appeal, he said, was dismissed.

“A stay order against his suspension from office has lapsed upon the court making its final ruling,” he said.  “The effect of this ruling, in my opinion, is that the Aitape-Lumi MP remains suspended from office and cannot continue to perform official duties, including attendance on the floor of Parliament.”
