Rabaul Guria Alu drives Hunters message of unity

RABAUL Gurias forward Ila Alu says being part of the SP Hunters makes players unite despite the differences in cultural background.
Alu, who has been part of the Hunters since 2018, gave credit to the pioneers of the team for instilling the team culture of oneness, and he hoped to see the legacy continue despite the turnover of players.
“Every player in the team is defined by his customs and tradition and we have players that come from different parts of the country,” Alu said during the SP Hunters farewell at the Oil Search National Football Stadium last week.
“But when we come into the camp, there’s only one main goal we want to achieve and we have to put every cultural differences behind us.
“The team culture of oneness has been instilled by our pioneers who have come and gone. We have to maintain that team culture even with the transition of the team with young players coming in.
“To go out there and get the result, it would take a collaborative effort and for us to put everything behind us and work as a unit, it would see us go a long way and we can perform at a different level week in and week out.
“Every time we come into camp every pre-season, the main message that the coaching staff and senior players try to get across us being one as a unit. Success would come from that and we hope to see the legacy continue despite the transition of new players coming in.”
