Rabaul police laud facility’s upgrade

THE recently renovated and extended East New Britain police administration building at the check-point in Rabaul was  commissioned last Friday.

The dilapidated building was refurbished with the extension done by local contractor Paveks Construction Ltd at a cost of K100,000.

The funding was from the Rabaul joint district planning and budget priorities committee (JDPBPC).

Provincial police commander Sylvester Kalaut said this signified the strong commitment by the district administration in prioritising law and order in the district and province.

He said such an exercise would also greatly improve public confidence in the district because it had been able to deliver to its people basic government services like policing.

Kalaut said the renovation had also boosted the morale of police officers who work in the district.

“My members would now be happy to work in a comfortable working environment”.

He also challenged police in the district to give their best in discharging their duties in serving the people.

Kalaut reiterated that as the province’s top cop, he was pleased with the district’s commitment to law and order issues.

He heaped praise on the district for setting the pace in funding and implementing the refurbishment of the police station.

The refurbished police station was for the people and he urged all police personnel to take ownership of it.

Kalaut also extended his appreciation to Rabaul JDPBPC chairman Dr Allan Marat for the assistance.
