A new-look Hawks Rugby League Cub will be unveiled this year to enter the Port Moresby Rugby League competition.

According to the club’s  president, Dadi Toka Jr, they have secured a new sponsorship deal from local Motuan radio station Lalokau FM, with Tura Sports as a co-sponsor for this season.

Toka said Lalokau FM chipped in K20,000, with Tura Sports counter-funding with another K20,000, bringing the total amount to K40,000.

He said the club would be known as Lalokau FM Hawks.

It was previously sponsored by Bishop Brothers.

“We are putting new systems in place for the future of the club by bringing new coaches and technical staff to boost its performance,” Toka said.

He said PNG Barramundis captain Jack Vare and PNG Hunters’ Toua Kohu had been secured as strength and conditioning coaches, while former Kumul captain Mark Mom would provide guidance on club administration and player conduct.

“We are trying to instil some professionalism into the club.”

Toka made an open invitation to players wishing to join the Hawks to turn up at the Konedobu Oval and see the coaches.
