PEOPLE of Gulf province can expect to have their own radio station back – Radio Gulf.
It follows a payment of K200,000 by Gulf Governor Havila Kavo to Communication Minister  Jimmy Miringtoro last week.
Miringtoro said the funds would be used to rehabilitate and restore broadcast and other facilities of Radio Gulf.
“Sadly the infrastructure has eroded over many years and has not been used in the best possible way to disseminate information to the people of Gulf,” he said.
Kerema is in a strategic location and the radio station is vital to inform the people on government development programmes, in particular activities in the liquefied natural gas project there.
“Communication is vital for development.
“And I believe the restoration of Radio Gulf will keep our people better informed and enable them to make wise decisions,” he said.
Miringtoro commended Kavo for his commitment to the province and his efforts to bring back this vital communication service to the people.
