REIGNING premiers Bala Raiders are slowing gaining their peak and are set to notch their third straight win as the Gordon Touch competition heads into round seven.
After most of their players defected to other clubs, Raiders are in a rebuilding stage. They did not disappoint when they thrashed Erima Titans 21-0 in the main game last weekend.
With James Yogomin and Kopi Kere leading their charge, their young guns Titus Posa, Jubilee Roberts Jr, Aquila Hearo, Julius Moka, Wilson Kere and two-try hero Tony Ilo had a field day.
Titans boasting of seasoned campaigners Tommy Lavako, Abby Kere and company could not cope with the assault from their opponents with their slick passes, ball movement and pace.
Raiders were in control with burly five-eighth Yogomin calling the shots and orchestrating movements from deep within his own side forcing the Titans to back-pedal.
With frustration creeping into the Titans, they started switching the ball out wide to look for lapses in the Raiders’ defence.
However, the move back-fired when Raiders centre Ilo intercepted a pass and raced 40m. He opted to overload to second rower Julius Moka to score under the uprights for an early 6-0 lead.
Three minutes later, winger Titus Posa extended the lead to 10-0 after a classical backline move.
Titans rallied but another wayward pass byf five-eighth Abby Kere was plucked out of thin air by Ilo who raced 50m but was unfortunately short of the try line.
From the ensuing play Yogomin potted a field goal to give the Raiders a 11-0 lead with four minutes remaining.
Two minutes later, Raiders added another try when Kere sneaked down the blind side from a scrum. He put a chip from 35m that saw fullback Gabriel Uba scoop the ball to score a try under the post and take their lead to 17-0.
Raiders continued to embarrass Titans with Ilo going over for his second try to wrap up the match 21-0.
In the other games on Sunday, Kona Bar Eels edged Jabiru Storm 2-1 and Flats Steelers beat Hanua Roosters 6-0 in a scrappy affair.
