THE Somare Cup will be up for grabs this Saturday in the 3 Suns Rigo rugby league competition when Saroa Seida Raiders square  off in the grand final encounter  against  reigning premiers Kilivana Saints, from Gabone village, at the Kwikila market oval.
According to Saints captain Tom Araga Simon it would be the battle of the centres as his live-wire centres Billy Gui and Tagi Verave take a swipe at Raiders’ U19 Southern Zone reps Ronald Mahuta and Moki Leva.
“These young blokes are at the top of their games and will be the game breakers for either side which should provide  some entertaining action,” Simon said.
The men from Gabone will also be  turning to their sensational halves Joe Keto and Lancy Eric to direct their backline and the forwards at crucial parts of the game.
Saroa Raiders are not taking this grand final lightly and have gone into camp in Port Moresby since the beginning of this week and the Ginimare troops have started gelling for the final hit out.
“We have won our last  six matches consecutively and this is our first finals appearance in the history of the competition.
“Its  a big one and we want nothing but to finish the job off on a positive note with a victory,”  Raiders captain and lock Emmanuel Raka said.
According to Raka his side have a balanced line up spiced  with the inform players Chicko Mairi, sneaky rake Samuel Samuel and creative halfback Jobby Mairi who will be out to grab the Somare Cup from reigning premiers Gabone Kilivana Saints on Saturday.
The match which will be graced with the presence of several Australian Prime Minister’s XIII players is sure to attract a large crowd come kick-off.
The members of the Australian PM’s XIII team will also be carrying out awareness on HIV AIDS  when they are at the grand final in Kwikila.
The Member for Rigo Ano Pala will kick off the grand final of the Somare Cup.
