RAIHU District Hospital in the Aitape/Lumi district in West Sepik received 20ft container -pack of medical equipment and hospital supplies.
The donation was made possible by the Rivers Apostolic Centre in Brisbane, Australia through brothers James and Franz Hemetsberger, who are both members of the church organisation.
The items in the container valued close to a million kina included a wide range of used and new medical equipment donated by the church members with the help of their friends and colleagues.
The container took four weeks to pack and left Brisbane in May and arrived in Wewak on July 11.
“During that time I learnt that it was a lot of hard work, there were clearance problems with Customs and the shipping agent,” said James Hemetsberger, who is an engineer.
Linda Hambrua, the district health manager said they were fortunate to receive the donation.
