Ramu NiCo completes maintenance of its refinery

THE Ramu NiCo Management Ltd has completed its final overhaul maintenance for the year at the Krumbukari mine and Basamuk refinery.
The developer of the nickel/cobalt mine in Madang stated that the overhaul “creates favourable conditions for high and stable production in the fourth quarter, and builds a solid foundation for the project’s high-quality development”.
The Ramu NiCo project continues to implement pandemic prevention measures to ensure the safety of its workforce onsite and villagers.
The annual overhaul of the project was not only related to the overall safety of the systems, but also involved the stable and high production of the project.
It would determine whether the annual production targets could be achieved.
Several meetings were organised before each overhaul to ensure that key tasks were implemented item by item and key spare parts were sorted out one by one.
The overhaul materials were purchased several months in advance to assure spare parts arrived on time to support the smooth progress of overhaul, relevant departments pre-made pipe fittings, repaired propeller blades, erected scaffolding, conducted various risk assessments to ensure safe and efficient maintenance.
