With two games before the Port Moresby men’s Super League soccer challenges end, the race for the number one spot is on between red-hot Rapatona and in-form Maclaren.

Both teams share 12 points apiece, but Rapatona top the table due to better goal percentage.

Maclaren will take on Cosmos in the scheduled men’s Super League challenge on Saturday, a match which promises to be a thriller.

Back from their 1-0 victory over Mungkas last weekend, the star-studded Maclaren will have problems against the Toru Turia-coached outfit, Cosmos, at Bisini Soccer  pitch’s Oval One.

Maclaren coach Lua Vagi, is banking on his big guns Kelly Jampu, Felix Bondaluk, Cyril Muta, Paschal Wojem, Pakop Poesi and Peter Karava to seal them the win in this match against Momase.

Cosmos, on the other hand, will rely on their skipper, Gary Moka, to play a big part in the match.

Moka, who is currently in top form, should be calling on support from Simon Ealadon, Michael Lohai, Geoffrey Dobbin, Daki Kiapin and Mathew Russel to support him and ensure they win this match to stay in contention with the competition leaders.

It should be an interesting game.

On Sunday, all eyes will be on Rapatona when it takes on Momase in the first Super League.

Under the watchful eyes of Chique Posman and Percy Mataio, the Manus club is running hot to lead the competition.

The inclusion of the Peka brothers from Lae, Armstrong and his younger brother, Clement, has added tonic to their offensive play.

Skipper Michael Foster will once again call on the services of the Peka duo, Roniel and Rodney Mobiha, while Emmanuel Popoitai and Richard Pono will man the backline.

Momase’s consistency led them to premiership honours last year and they will put up a hard fight.

The Gerehu-based club will be relying on coach Andrew Kinowin call to down the Popondetta team.

The match is expected to go down to the wire.
