Reader: If you believe in solar power, stand firm for a better environment for our children

Letters

I THANK FM100 for giving me airtime to discuss renewable solar energy systems, green technology and smart technology with Minister for Energy Sam Basil, his secretary and the CEO of an Australian company that is proposing a coal-fired power plant in Lae.
Access electricity from this dirty coal source will be distributed to other parts of the country through PNG Power Ltd.
That, at least, is the plan.
Time did not allow me to fully explain the clean power energy systems that are available.
I note with interest that guests on the show may already have made up their mind to use thermal coal-fired power generation and any suggestions otherwise will not change their way of thinking.
The perception by the Minister for Energy, his secretary and the CEO of an Australian private company that solar power is only available for daytime use and that there is not enough power for industries to use at night is not true, utter nonsense, shows ignorance and misinformation and there seems be clear bias towards the use of thermal coal-fired power generation.
This an insult to my intelligence and an insult to other technical people in Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, United Arab Emirates in Middle East and others around the world. Many Papua New Guineans own land, bushes, rivers, valleys, mountains, jungles, seas, etc.
We are one of the unique last wildernesses in the whole world and I appeal to right-thinking Papua New Guineans who believe in solar power, green technology, saving our environment and our planet that we must stand together and stand firm for clean air, clean sea, clean land and better environment for our children to live in.
