I EXPRESS my concern on what is not right for PNG, especially for landowners when formalising mining laws.
PNG will not receive the full benefits of its gold/copper mining wealth because of bad deals.
The Government only protected the country’s interest.
They signed lopsided contracts to benefit foreigners and partners while the landowners will get little.
The resources belong to people of PNG and it should benefit the people by creating employment opportunities and open businesses options.
There should be strong local content policy to force the companies to shine business our way.
There are many secrets regarding gold and copper contracts and the Government should criminalise nondisclosure agreements to protect the interest of landowners.
