Rebuilding livelihood

Letters

HE Batri people of Southern Highlands should return home, rebuild their ruined villages and start a new life free from tribal fighting and violence.
ECPNG in collaboration with Nazarene, Christian Life Centre, Catholic, BMC, PNCC and United Pentecostal Churches will be hosting a Christmas crusade and reconciliation ceremony to unite and make peace with the warring tribes in the surrounding Batri villages of Kagua-Erave District from Dec 24-27 at Mungoloma Village.
For 13 years the people of Kanarepa and Perepe have been scattered and lived in isolation from their families and loved ones. It is time they come home and rebuild their ruined villages and start a fresh new life free from tribal fighting and violence.
Through this fight, government services such as schools, aid posts, bridges, roads and airstrips no longer exist in our communities.
The crusade is to ensure the two warring tribes of Kanarepa and Perepe to confess, repent and pray to God and ask for his forgiveness and mercy for the tribal fight which happened in 2008 that claimed nine lives and destruction of properties worth thousands of kina.
