TWO hundred and fifty police recruits are now preparing to undergo six months of training at Bomana Police College, college chief instructor Erwin Maritua says.
Maritua told The National that the college was currently preparing for the new intakes.
“There are administrative documents that we are sorting out at the moment with the recruits before they actually start with the training,” he said.
“Instructors are also preparing as well to actually kick-off training next week.
“We will invite the commissioner (Gari Baki) to come and officially open the programme.”
Maritua said the recruits would come out just in time for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) 2018 leaders’ summit in November.
He said they were looking forward to producing disciplined and quality officers.
Baki said this batch of recruits, including the 109 that graduated recently, would not be posted to other provinces as yet.
He said all would be tasked with providing security during Apec.
