The MM Kibi Reds maintained their winning run, defeating Ambum Crushers 10-4 in the Maip-Mulitaka Rugby and Sports Association-sponsored competition at the Hohola Ipi Park on Saturday.
In an entertaining round six game, Reds who are making their way to be the competition’s top contenders, ran in two tries to Crushers’ one unconverted try.
Reds led 4-0 in the first half and came back stronger in the second to upset Crushers with an additional six points.
The tries came through Reds centre Susuve Philip and lock Mimiri Greg who crossed the line under the uprights making halfback Aroka Duna’s job easy to get the two extras.
On the other hand, the Crushers put up a courageous show against Reds in the second half with halfback Steven Jerry controlling the ball well.
However, a lot of ball handling errors and silly mistakes cost them the game.
The ill-discipline in ball handling was the factor that mainly contributed to the down of the team.
The Port Moresby heat was another factor that cost them the game although forward Billy Jerry worked hard and scored for his side on the stroke of fulltime.
In the opening match earlier, Puja Hawks defeated the Junction Rangers 4-0, which ended in a brawl among players.
