TOKUA Redskins showed their class in the East New Britain rugby union competition by thrashing the Kinabot Piggies 67-0 over the weekend.

With 17 minutes remaining before fulltime, referee Eugene Tokavai ended Piggies slaughtering by calling off the match.

Former Gurias Ninit Manu flaunting in the Redskins flanks and lining up with fullback Toua Philip, centre Henry Manuel and scrum half Connie Ben opened the floodgates against the helpless Piggies.

Redskins scored through captain Brendon Nason, two tries from Manuel and Manu, Maxi Thomas, Ben, Junior Tomy, Toua Philip and Billy Austin.

Ben converted five of the nine tries and Japheth Yamban converted one try for the final score.

Piggies scrum half James Kave stood out for the Piggies but wasn’t enough to relieve his team from defeat.

In other matches, Hoodsco Harlequins flogged Cardinals 15-8 for their first win after three games in round one.

An elated Harlies manager Dominic Kunai said Harlies were eventually finding their feet and the win was a motivating factor.

ENBRFU president Tony Namur urged players and team officials to be focused on the sanctioned national 15s titles in Port Moresby on September in which Rabaul would be sending a team.

He said after the successful completion of the 7s competition, the provincial team the Kaias were set to dominate the invitational Frangipani 7s cup slated for Nov 22-23 in Rabaul.
