FIFA ticketed referee Amos Anio, pictured,  is standing firm on his decisions that resulted in the 2-2 draw between Hekari United and Gigira Laitepo at the PNGIPA Oval in Port Moresby last weekend.
The Lae-based referee said he would not be intimidated by people in Port Moresby or in Lae.
Anio’s comment came after a weekend newspaper report that said Anio was inconsistent in his rulings.
Anio said he respected Hekari United team manageress Vonnie Kapi Natto’s comments.
But, he said, there observing a game was not similar to officiating and many critics could not comprehend that.
“Kapi Natto and her coach Jerry Allan were observing the match that’s why they talked too much,” he said.
He said the results could have gone either way.
Amos maintained he had always remained neutral when refereeing, and what the Hekari team management had done was uncalled for.
He said of all teams, Hekari should know better having played at a much higher level than the NSL, including the World Club Cup and Oceania Champions League.
Amos called on the NSL board to come up with clear guidance and rules to clamp down on such behaviour from bench officials.
“The behaviour by the Hekari United team management is simply bringing the game into disrepute,”he said.
