Referendum concerns

Letters

THE membership of the Bougainville Referendum Commission requires two members from THE Papua New Guinea government side and two representing the Bougainville autonomous government.
It is chaired by a former Irish prime minister.
The commission is set to deliver the Bougainville referendum next year in June.
What concerns me is that in terms of qualifications and expertise, the ABG representation is weak compared to the PNG representation.
This may result in the Commission being highly manipulated by the PNG side.
This is a call to the ABG to review its commission membership immediately by appointing highly educated Bougainvilleans with expertise and strong management experience.
There are qualified Bougainvilleans out there who can do a better job as members of the commission than the current ABG appointees.
