OUTSPOKEN National Soccer League team manager Toki Mambare has been banned by Oceania Football Confederation Ethics Committee for three years from taking part in any kind of football related activity at national and international level.

Mambare was named along with three officials from the Cook Islands Football Association who were sidelined for their comments on football in their respective countries.

The former LFA president and now the current Gigira Laitepo team manager in the Telikom National Soccer League was found guilty of several breaches of the OFC Code of Ethics. These decisions were reached following two days of hearings held from December 16-17 last year at the OFC’s headquarters in Auckland.

The Cook Island trio Tony Jamieson, Cameron Robertson and Brian Baudinet, were banned for five years from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level after each was found guilty of breaching the confederation’s code of ethics.

The OFC Ethics Committee chairman Sam Petaia banned the quartet from any kind of football-related activity at national and international level.

The bans were effective from 17 December, 17, 2013.

Mambare declined to comment but indicated he would seek legal interpretation to challenge his three-year ban.

PNGFA president David Chung said the matter had followed due process.

Chung said that it would only be proper for Mambare to immediately relinquish his position as Morobe manager as it would affect the NSL franchise.
