Reinstate Toea Wisil

Letters

IT appears that there is a high probability of conspiracy to technically deny South Pacific sprint queenToea Wisil a place in the Commonwealth Games.
Why are they so adamant to stick to some cooked-up protocol on the eve of the games that share the same quality as the Olympics?
Tony Green is telling the country that the sprint queen has been disqualified because she did not attend the presentation.
That the Olympic Committee had given its concurrence.
How pathetic and misguided to be heavy handed on the country’s inspirational model for the ‘village girls’ in a region popular for gender-based violence and suppression.
Athletics as a sports should be an ongoing annual programme where all provinces should be participating both at the grassroots levels and in schools.
This is not happening apart from talents being scouted from PNG Grassroots Games.
We should be mindful of the fact that PNG needs talents like Toea Wisil.
She still has time to pick up her form.
Running is in her blood and a change of mood and some encouragement is all she needs to get back on the track and be the number one.
Protocol or not, there must always be some element of common sense that underpins a decision of such magnitude.
The effect of such decisions needs careful and close analysis before being handed down.
Toea must be reinstated to lead PNG into the Commonwealth Games.
