RELIGION Minister Loujaya Kouza says there is a need to rekindle the covenant made to God by two prime ministers – Sir Michael Somare and Peter O’Neill.

During a Defence Force Commanders spiritual outreach at Murray Barracks, in Port Moresby, last week, she said the covenant was first made by Sir Michael Somare on Aug 26, 2007.

O’Neill made the same commitment to God during his visit to Israel last year.

Kouza said it was the seventh year of the covenant and it should be the year of stocktaking for the country.

She said the rise and fall of the Government would depend on how it lived up to the covenant made.

Kouza said to fix the cracks created as a result of not adhering to the covenant, certain things needed to be done.

“If we are going to introduce new furniture into the House (Parliament), we have to put them into a new house,” Kouza said.

“To honour the covenant, a new House on a new site should be built.”
