Relax SME loan requirements

Letters

THE Government needs to relax its policies pertaining to small to medium enterprises (SME) funds facilitated by the banks.
It should understand that the banks are using stringent policies to give out SME loans and it is not friendly to most SME operators and potential borrowers.
Why can’t the Government use the commerce officers in the districts to identify existing and potential SME operators in their respective districts and work with them to access the SME funds from the banks?
It is good that the banks are controlling those funds but their policies are not very helpful.
It is time the Government started using the commerce officers in districts to work with SME operators to access SME funds from the banks.
