I am a diehard PNG Hunters fans who is not happy with the way it is going.

This is an urgent call to the management of PNG Hunters to relocate the PNG Hunters training venue.

Even though I appreciate the coaching and the management staff have done fine decision by moving to Kokopo but we the Hunter’s fans are not really impressed with the way they are performing.

I am suggesting that Kokopo is not the best venue. We have Melanesian cultures and society  way of beliefs and customs that we have.

I am not from the New Guinea Islands but from the stories that I have been told in the Highlands by our grandfathers and chiefs in the Highlands region is when one tribe wants to go on tribal war with another clan.

All men must stay away from their wives and children and gather in the hausman (men’s house). There they plan how to attack the enemy.

Before they do that there are certain guidelines and rules they must be abide by:

  1. First and the most important rule; every men who is going for war must not live with their wives or any woman.
  2. Men who have pregnant wives must not follow into the battle field.
  3. Every men must prepare their meals and not a woman
  4. Always keep weapons such as battle shield, bows and arrows readily available and be on the alert in case of enemy attacks
  5. There is always night and day guard shifts at the highest alert

If the above rules were broken they either were shot dead or enemy attack with injuries with no choice but accept the consequences that they disobeyed the rules.

This is how the men in the Highlands used to defend their village and its people.

When the PNG Hunters boys were based in Port Moresby they really played very well and won almost most of the games and they even went up to third placing on the ladder.

There were no injuries like now in the past four to five games.

The players were fit and well but the moment they shifted to Kokopo they were not performing well up to expectations with a lot of injuries.

If the Hunters does not make it this weekend then this is an  urgent call to the management and the officials to convene and have an urgent meetings to move the Kokopo venue to Lae or Goroka venues until the facilities in Port Moresby are completed readily available.

A lot of funds have been spent but it is good for our future generation and for the country.
