Remove useless police personnel in Bereina

I WOULD like to bring this to the attention of NCD/Central Assistant Police Commissioner Sylvester Kalaut to transfer all police personnel based at Doa and Bereina in Central Provice.

They are very lazy and not enforcing law and order in the Kairuku, Mekeo and Kuni areas.

A very good example is the murder of Leo Warupi. No suspects have been arrested so far.

Another murder and an attempted murder occurred late last year in my village of Veifa’a that was reported to the police but no arrests have been made so far.

Moses Magaiva’s son Steven Mosses was brutally murdered over a land dispute by his uncle who escaped to Kerema with his family and is yet to be arrested.

His son-in-law who was at the scene when the murder occurred was brought in and locked up in the Boroko cells.

However, the Bereina police failed to submit their report which resulted in him being released.

Another attempted murder reported late last year at Veifa’a when a youth from Aipeana who was under the influence of alcohol

shot one of our villagers with a home-made gun but is still roaming freely in the village.

I believe there are many other incidents that were never reported because police do not conduct patrols and proper investigations into these incidents.

Therefore, we need new police personnel to be posted in these two places as soon as possible.

I hope Central Police go down to our village and reinvestigate these two incidents and bring the culprits to face the full force of the law.
