Renovate museum for bigger space
The National, Monday January 6th, 2014
THE removal of traditional PNG carvings by the Parliament Speaker is a good issue to discuss by the public.
In the traditional sense, the carvings are important to the public and also to the tourists who are interested in such things.
Therefore, the national leadership should consider improving the museum section of the public sector. It is not necessary to have many carvings in the parliament.
The government should enlarge the museum section to accommodate more of the traditional carvings not only in the nation’s capital but also in the provinces.
These actions will ensure that PNG’s unique carvings are preserved in our society as many of us are becoming more and more secular and westernised.
Let the government lead the way to improve and enlarge our museum section to defuse any tension because of varying views about such actions prevailing at the parliament currently.
