Central administrator Gei Raga last week commended the collective effort by all provincial leaders which resulted in the repatriation of Central students from the PNG University of Technology (Unitech) in Lae.
He gave credit to Governor Kila Haoda for his foresight and initiative that enabled various parties including the four Central MPs and the provincial executive council to make provisions for the students’ safe return.
Over 80 students returned home safely after a fellow student was killed and school properties destroyed the previous weekend amidst ongoing tension at the campus.
“We are so grateful for the governor’s initiative that saw all of us work as a team. The governor was so concerned about the students’ safety and wellbeing so he gave instructions for us to act quickly and bring our students home,” Raga said.
