Replacing totem poles diminishes culture

I AM dismayed by the parliamentary committee’s plan to replace the totem poles.
PNG is a country with cultural diversity. We are shaped and influenced by our culture that reveals our national identity.
Students were taught, and practice culture as in the education and curriculum reform.
The whole idea is to inform young generations of its value and to instil pride for their own culture.
Catholic and Lutheran missionaries valued our culture and used it to win souls and brought change in the early ’50s and ’60s.
Replacing the poles diminishes our culture.
