Resettle West Papuans

Letters

I REFER to recent media stories on the plight of the West Papuans who are now ordered to be evicted from their current residence in Gerehu, Port Moresby.
Out of concern for the welfare of this families, I urge the city authorities to look into offering a proper resettlement package so this families can have a stable home and they can establish a regular livelihood to care for their families.
NCD Governor Powes Parkop has a great slogan for Port Moresby ‘one city, one people, one future’.
How can this be better realised for the children of the West Papuan people who most have been born in Papua New Guinea?
This calls for a holistic approach from Government and community to address and we urge all authorities to respond humanely to their cries.
