Respect arms of government

Letters

THE constitution has set up three arms of government – legislative (parliament), executive (National Executive Council) and judiciary (courts).
These three are completely independent and should be respected.
Each arm works to avoid concentration of powers that could lead to dictatorship.
The three arms of government should have a say before a bill becomes a law.
MPs should respect that.
The office that you hold as prime minister, opposition leader or justice minister does not give you the power and right to change any laws whenever you want to.
As legislators, you have the power but you should know that you are duty-bound to protect the laws and do things within the confines of law.
We are developing a new trend of making mistakes and running to the courts to correct our mistakes.
