Respect Parliament

Letters

I EXPRESS my disappointment over a group of people (I believe parliamentary staff) playing sports and blasting music outside the National Parliament recently.
While the programme is good in promoting staff’s physical fitness and development, the place used as playing ground/sports field is inappropriate.
The activity demonstrates disrespect from the organising committee.
I think, and any Papua New Guinean would agree, that Parliament is the icon of PNG and highly respected place where protocols and orders are maintained.
It is a place where important decisions of the country are reached.
I mean, what perception is now brought to the general public passing by Parliament house and those working near?
Is this how to take back PNG?
Is this the manifestation of what happens inside the house?
Take your sports to the correct sporting venues such as other government departments do.

  • Look on the bright side why can’t the staff invite their Pollie Bosses to join them so they can cut down on their pot bellies.
