MORE than 300 graduates from the International Training Institute (ITI) were encouraged to respect and value their qualification because it was a blessing.
Kopkop College executive director Maria Kopkop told the group in Port Moresby on Friday that they should respect their qualification as they had worked hard to achieve it.
She said the certificates would benefit the graduates and it should encourage them to save for future business endeavours.
“You will agree with me that the gain from your certificates will provide you and your family the benefits and enjoyment in your homes,” Kopkop said. “It is up to you to use your qualification wisely and encourage yourself to save in order to meet your personal business dreams and your future goals.”
She said the workforce was the only means of survival in an urban setting.
She said technical and professional education and training was the practical tool for personal development.
A total of 301 students graduated with certificates and diplomas in accounting, business, computing, human resource management, sales, management, information system, information technology and networking. ITI chairman Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval said education was vital in a country’s development because it discouraged crime and sharpened people’s sense of right and wrong.
He said education provided guidance and practical skills necessary in everyday life.
