Respectable result from golf meet

THE Pacific MMI PNG Junior Golfers that took part in the Greg Norman Junior Masters last week ended the tournament with a respectable result and came fifth in the overall challenge.
For our two players Shavina Maras and Brian Taikiri, the tournament was great all over and a very good last day, especially for Shavina Maras scoring 82 gross and 71 nett oneunder.
With encouragement from her mother and her caddy, she played steadily all the way round, although we, including Brian, one birdie.
She had scores of 92, 86, 90 and 82 giving her an overall total of 350.
Brian played another round of 79 gross and 74 nett, he had three birdies but also had a double bogie and several bogies and scored 77, 79, 77 and 79 with a total of 312.
Chief de mission Lionel Melville said: “Brian had a very reasonable result scoring though he could have done better.”
