Restore Madang’s former glory

Letters

REPORT on the front page of the other daily is truly a shame and embarrassment on us the people of once called ‘beautiful Madang’.
As years and elections goes by, it seems that all the empty promises poured out by our elected leaders to restore the pride and beauty of Madang, has gone down the drain.
We talk and boast about Madang yet, very little has been done for the province.
Social issues are at its peak, law and order is worsening, killings are everywhere and there are continuous highway holdups.
Madang town is not safe because bag snatching and petty crime have become a normal thing.
Consumption of drugs and homebrew is becoming a norm in every villages including the town vicinity itself.
Our main and feeder roads are worsening, with unsealed, muddy and huge crater making travelling very difficult for the people.
Look at all the big potholes and the unseal roads right in the heart of Madang Town.
The town housed the provincial head quarter and cater for all the business activities.
This is an embarrassment to us the people of Madang.
I wonder if any of our provincial leaders are taking any heed of this.
We talk very loud on the floor of the Parliament and become entertainers with many fans, set record to send hundreds of our kids to overseas colleges and yet pay very little attention to our own province.
As a Madgaunist, I am truly ashamed and embarrassed and I know all the people of Madang feel the same.
My foremost appeal to the member for Madang Bryan Kramer and Governor Peter Yama is to follow the example of other district MPs and please come down to earth and start fixing our once pearl of Pacific, home of the flying fox the Beautiful Madang.

Jerry Ambali,
Madang (BPN)
