Retention system vital for education

Letters

THE introduction of retention system in will benefit educational institutions, mainly elementary and primary schools.
The system will filter students – it will allow academically sound students to continue to the next grade and those who are not eligible to be retained to prepare well.
This would give the child, parents and the school a win win situation.
Each schools should consider using internal assessment results for the year or an examination to administer this system.
If we are serious about education for our children the retention method is one of the catalyst for quality control.
I believe our education system allows that in schools but due to the intensive job involved, most schools adhere to routine practices.
Contemporary school administrators, whilst subject to the formal practices according to National Education Schedule, may have some time to think outside the box too to create a difference for their schools and communities they serve.
