REVEREND John Bosco Auram was ordained as the Bishop of the Diocese of Kimbe at the Bernard Vogae Memorial Park last Sunday.
Consecrators of the ordination were the Archbishop of Rabaul Francesco Panfilo, Archbishop of Port Moresby Cardinal Sir John Ribat and Bishop Emeritus William Fey.
Bishop Auram is the second son of Francis Auram and Jacinta Seleime. His father, a teacher and catechist, hails from Kandoka village in the Kaliai parish.
His mother is from Wasum village in the Sara parish.
In his homily, the Apostolic Nuncio paid tribute to His Lordship William Regis Fey, who had been shepherding the diocese for over nine years with dedication, even to the point of neglecting his health. He reminded the new bishop of his duty. “It is your call within a call,” he said.
“The task of the bishop is not of domination, but of humble service as you strive to be a pastor with the smell of the sheep.”
Trust in God and our Blessed Mother and pray for your people and your priests.
Be the sacrament of closeness for your priests and your people.” Bishop Auram thanked God, his parents, family and the people for their prayers.
He encouraged all to be deeply spiritual and lift their hearts and voices in prayer.
Other bishops and representatives of dioceses joined the priests, religious and lay faithful at the event.
Also present were Talasea MP Francis Maneka and Sasindran Muthuvel.
